There’s a new player in the EV market, but this time, it wears a Mazda badge and echoes simplicity, style, and value. The Mazda MX-30 is anticipated to make its Minnesota debut in 2023 but there are still a lot of questions that have yet to be answered about this highly anticipated model. The first being, will the MX-30 that arrives to the Midwest be the same as the Mazda MX-30 that has been sold on the west coast over the past year? Or will we be getting a new version with updates to the powertrain, battery, and more?
All signs point to the latter. The original version of the Mazda MX-30, which was only made available on the west coast for the 2022 model year, was intended to be a test entry into the electric vehicle segment by Mazda. Sales numbers for this model over the past 12 months were not overwhelming, albeit availability and production were very limited. However, Mazda has a game plan.
Using feedback from the first iteration of the MX-30, Mazda plans to scale a new version of this model into something that fits what the Midwest consumer is looking for. A release date is not yet set for this new model, but we anticipate to know more around the time Mazda launches the all-new Mazda CX-90.
