Active Mazda Safety Features

Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS)

Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS)

The Adaptive Front-lighting System optimizes headlight distribution based on driving circumstances. This system illuminates much brighter than halogen headlights and maintains a stable distribution of light independent of the car's position.

High-Beam Control (HBC)

High-Beam Control (HBC)

High-Beam Control can automatically switch between high and low beams when driving at night when other vehicles are detected. This system can also switch the lights to low beams when driving in brightly lit areas when high beams are not required.

Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC)

Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC)

Mazda Radar Cruise Control adjusts speed and maintains a safe distance from vehicles ahead with a millimeter wave radar. This system also includes a Distance Recognition Support System (DRSS), so you can visually verify the following distance at all times.

Rear Vehicle Monitoring System (RVM)

Rear Vehicle Monitoring System (RVM)

With the Rear Vehicle Monitoring System, your Mazda utilizes a rear bumper-mounted quasi-milliwave radar to monitor the distance of cars approaching from behind. This system can accurately detect vehicles approaching over a large area, notifying you if you try to change lanes when it's unsafe.

Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)

Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)

The Lane Departure Warning System in your new Mazda can detect which highway lane you're in and alert you if the car or SUV begins to unintentionally drift out of it. This system is able to distinguish between intentional and unintentional lane changes, minimizing false alerts.

Forward Obstruction Warning (FOW)

Forward Obstruction Warning (FOW)

Forward Obstruction Warning is able to detect vehicles or other hazards that are in front of your Mazda with a millimeter-wave radar. If a collision risk exists, the system will sound an alarm and display a visual alert so that you can respond.

Pre-Crash Mazda Safety Features

Smart City Brake Support (SCBS)

Smart City Brake Support (SCBS)

Smart City Brake Support uses a laser sensor mounted on the windshield to detect vehicles ahead in an urban setting. When traveling at a relatively low speed, this system can prep the brake system for maximum effectiveness if the risk of a collision is detected. If you don't react, your Mazda can autonomously apply the brakes and reduce engine output to help your vehicle slow down.

Smart Brake Support (SBS)

Smart Brake Support (SBS)

When traveling at highway speeds, Smart Brake Support uses a millimeter-wave radar to detect vehicles up to 200 meters ahead. If you're in danger of a collision, your Mazda can automatically apply the brakes. This system works together with the Distance Recognition Support System (DRSS) to visually display your following distance, and Forward Obstruction Warning (FOW) to notify you of potential hazards.

Acceleration Control for AT

Acceleration Control for AT

If you step on the gas pedal by mistake, Acceleration Control for AT can manage sudden and unintentional acceleration. A laser sensor can detect if you press the pedal more than a prescribed amount while stopped. If an obstacle is ahead, this system will decrease engine output and notify you with an alert.
